Newcastle City Council and Go Digital Newcastle have produced a directory which list organisations and venues offering free or low cost internet access or who provide courses to help people use computers and access the internet. 

As some venues are not open every day and some courses have eligibility criteria it is advisable to contact the relevant organisation beforehand for further details.

NIWE is an organisation in Newcastle which aims to provide support or signposting to people in the North East whose lives are affected by eating distress or eating disorders.

NIWE has published a guide to 'Coping with Christmas' for those affected by eating disorders. The guide contains tips and strategies to help you on Christmas day as well as several useful contact who can offer support.

Help the homeless this Christmas

If U Care Share Foundation is collecting on behalf of DASH - Durham Action on Single Housing. DASH is an independent charity that provides accommodation with support to people who are homeless or are about to become homeless. This year they are focusing on Churchill Square Emergency Accommodation, which is a high quality managed and supported accommodation for people in emergency need. Some of the people who arrive at the emergency accommodation arrive with few possessions and so they are looking for donations of toiletries and small gifts to help them get started.

Could you please arrange to get your donated items to If U Care Share Foundation by the 22nd December 2013. They are based at: Great Lumley Community Centre, Front Street, Great Lumley, Chester-le-Street, DH3 4JD.

If you are attending the Tree of Light event you can bring your donations on the day.


Gateshead council's Public Health team survey

Gateshead Council's Public Health Team is inviting local people to have their say on the future of local services using short survey that is now online or available to complete as a paper version. All responses to the survey will be kept confidential and stored securely.
